Atreyu, the renowned metalcore band, has recently unveiled their latest project, The Pronoia Sessions. This album offers fans a reimagined experience of their most beloved tracks, alongside unique covers of classics by Audioslave and Tom Petty.
The term “pronoia” describes the belief that the universe conspires in one’s favor, a concept that resonates deeply with the band’s current outlook. Frontman Brandon Saller shared, “I think that within the members of this band, it’s never been a more joyful place and it’s never been something that’s felt so positive before.”
The inspiration for this album emerged during the pandemic when Atreyu experimented with acoustic performances. The positive reception from fans led them to explore new interpretations of their songs. Saller explained, “It was an opportunity to give these older songs a completely new life… something a little bit different for Atreyu fans that’s not the average release.”
The creative process was both fluid and innovative. Guitarist Dan Jacobs, for instance, introduced the saxophone into “Right Side of the Bed” after recently learning the instrument. Saller remarked, “It was a spur-of-the-moment idea in the studio, and it turned out fantastic.”
The album also features a haunting rendition of Audioslave’s “Like A Stone.” Saller admitted feeling apprehensive about covering a song by the legendary Chris Cornell but was encouraged by his bandmates to take on the challenge. He noted, “That song is obviously a favorite of the band’s, and it has that feel already, and we kind of wanted to just take it even further and make it even more haunting.”
Reflecting on their journey, Saller emphasized the band’s current positive energy and alignment. He stated, “I think that within the members of this band, it’s never been a more joyful place and it’s never been something that’s felt so positive before.”
The Pronoia Sessions is now available on digital platforms since October 25, with vinyl and CD releases following on November 8. Fans can look forward to experiencing Atreyu’s classics in a refreshing new light.
