Zakk Wylde, renowned guitarist and long-time collaborator of Ozzy Osbourne, has shared insights into his relationship with Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, highlighting the deep bond and trust that has connected them for decades.
Wylde joined Ozzy’s band at just 19 years old, and since then, Sharon has been a maternal figure for him. In a recent interview, Zakk stated, “I affectionately refer to Sharon as Mom because since I was 19 years old, she’s been like a mother to me.” He recalled a humorous anecdote from his early days with the band: “At The Rainbow, when I joined the band… She called The Rainbow and said, ‘What are you doing down there?’… I was like, ‘Sorry, guys, I have to leave. My mom just told me I have to go home.’”
The relationship between Zakk and the Osbournes transcends professional boundaries. Wylde explained, “My relationship with Ozzy and Sharon is like if they needed me to clean the house because they have company… That’s my relationship with them.” He added that they don’t need intermediaries to communicate or reach agreements: “There are no lawyers involved. It’s just like, ‘We’ve got $20. Do you want it or not?’… I’ll be there on Tuesday. Don’t worry.”
This genuine and direct connection has strengthened their bond over the years, allowing for seamless collaboration and a friendship that goes beyond music.
