Jerry Cantrell, the iconic guitarist and vocalist of Alice In Chains, has embarked on his 2025 solo tour in support of his latest album, I Want Blood. The tour commenced on January 31 in Ontario, Canada, featuring a 17-song setlist that spanned his extensive career, including hits from Alice In Chains’ ’90s albums and his solo projects.
A highlight of the evening was Cantrell’s performance of “Hate to Feel,” a deep cut from Alice In Chains’ 1992 album, Dirt. This marked the first time the song had been played live since 1993, when the late Layne Staley was still part of the band. Notably, “Hate to Feel” was one of the tracks solely written by Staley, who also contributed guitar to the song. Reflecting on Staley’s contributions, Cantrell previously stated, “Layne came into his own as a guitar player, and he wrote a couple of fantastic tunes on the guitar with ‘Hate to Feel’ and ‘Angry Chair.'”
Cantrell’s setlist for the night included a mix of solo material and Alice In Chains classics, such as “Them Bones,” “Down in a Hole,” and “Rooster.” His touring band features Greg Puciato, Roy Mayorga, Eliot Lorango, and Zach Throne, who together delivered a powerful performance that honored both Cantrell’s solo work and his legacy with Alice In Chains.
Fans can look forward to more surprises as the tour progresses, with Cantrell delving deep into his rich musical catalog. For those eager to catch him live, tickets are available for upcoming shows across North America.
