Exciting news for System of a Down fans: the band is gearing up to revamp their setlists for the upcoming 2025 stadium concerts. In a recent chat with SNSMix.com, bassist Shavo Odadjian shared that concertgoers can expect “a lot of music [and] a lot of passion” during these performances, emphasizing that it’s been “a long time coming.”
Odadjian highlighted that the band will be performing more shows this year than they have in the past seven years combined, leading to an “unmatched” energy on stage. The 2025 schedule includes two nights each at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. (Aug. 27 and 28), Soldier Field in Chicago (Aug. 31 and Sept. 1), and Rogers Stadium in Toronto (Sept. 3 and 5). This approach mirrors Metallica’s M72 tour, with System of a Down planning to offer distinct setlists for each night.
“We’ll probably change the set up drastically between each one so if you come to both shows you’ll hear different songs,” Odadjian confirmed. He mentioned that fans can look forward to two-hour sets featuring around 27 to 30 songs, covering a wide range from their catalog of over 70 tracks. The band intends to rehearse extensively to ensure they can seamlessly switch up songs between performances, avoiding repetitive setlists.
With six U.S. stadium shows and nine performances in South America, 2025 marks System of a Down’s most active touring year since 2017. While various factors, including frontman Serj Tankian’s preference against lengthy tours, have limited their performances in recent years, Odadjian expressed his enthusiasm for playing more shows. “I’ve always wanted to do more shows,” he stated, adding that performing feels like home to him, and he’s never experienced stage fright.
Tickets for these highly anticipated shows are expected to sell quickly, so fans should secure theirs promptly to witness System of a Down’s dynamic and refreshed performances in 2025.
