After years of anticipation, Slipknot’s Shawn “Clown” Crahan has confirmed that the long-delayed Look Outside Your Window album is finally on track for release. In a recent interview with NME, Crahan revealed that the album is “out of my hands” and that management is now handling the final steps toward its unveiling.
The experimental project, recorded during the sessions for Slipknot’s 2008 album All Hope Is Gone, has gained a legendary status among fans. Unlike the band’s usual heavy style, Look Outside Your Window has been described as more melodic and experimental, with frontman Corey Taylor comparing its vibe to Radiohead during a past interview.
Years of Delays and Growing Anticipation
The album’s release has been a topic of speculation for over 16 years, with Crahan previously holding the most control over its progress. The anticipation has only intensified, with guitarist Jim Root jokingly threatening to leak it to speed up its release. Now, however, Crahan confirms his part in the project is complete, and he recently shared the final artwork with Taylor.
“I fought hard to release it this year,” Crahan told NME, “but with the holidays and business timelines, it couldn’t happen. What I can say is that it’s out of my hands now. The money has been spent, there’s a plan in place, and it’s coming.”
Crahan Reflects on the Album’s Journey
Reflecting on the creative process, Crahan described the project as a unique experiment by Slipknot members. “It wasn’t about making a Slipknot album,” he explained. “It was about creating something honest and unrestricted. I don’t know if it’s ‘good,’ but I love it. I make music for myself, and I hope fans who’ve waited for this feel it was worth it.”
What’s Next for Slipknot
As Slipknot celebrates the 25th anniversary of their debut album, the band is currently wrapping up a U.K. tour and preparing for additional shows in Australia and Europe in 2024. Ticket details are available on their official website.
With Crahan’s confirmation, Look Outside Your Window is no longer just a dream for fans—it’s a reality on the horizon.
