In a recent compilation by Billboard, Nickelback has been honored as the top rock band of the 21st century, securing the 26th position overall among the Top 100 Artists. This recognition underscores the band’s significant impact on the music industry over the past two decades.
Nickelback’s 2001 hit, “How You Remind Me,” was the most played song across all radio formats in the 2000s. Additionally, the band achieved multiple Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including “Photograph” (No. 2), “Rockstar” (No. 6), and “Far Away” (No. 8). Their versatility is evident with successes spanning Mainstream Rock, Pop, Adult Alternative, and Alternative Airplay charts.
Contrary to the notion that rock music is declining, Billboard’s list features several rock acts. Following Nickelback, Linkin Park ranks at No. 37, with hits like “In the End” (No. 2) and “New Divide” (No. 6). Avril Lavigne, the top female rocker, stands at No. 47, known for “Complicated” (No. 2) and “Girlfriend” (No. 1). Creed appears at No. 66, with “With Arms Wide Open” reaching No. 1. 3 Doors Down is at No. 70, with “Kryptonite” peaking at No. 3. Kid Rock holds the No. 83 spot, Daughtry is at No. 89, and Fall Out Boy rounds out the list at No. 100.
Other artists with rock affiliations also made the list. Santana is at No. 98, and Gwen Stefani, known for her work with No Doubt, is at No. 97. Twenty One Pilots, dominating the Alternative Airplay chart in recent years, secured the No. 84 position. Coldplay, with a significant presence on the alternative airplay chart in the 2000s, is at No. 53. Imagine Dragons, who started in the alternative rock scene, are at No. 38.
This compilation highlights the enduring appeal and influence of rock music in the 21st century, with Nickelback leading the charge among rock bands.
