Rock musician Jered Threatin, known for his 2018 publicity stunt that captivated the music world, has made a powerful comeback with his latest track, “Die Young.” This new release offers fans an intimate look into his recent health struggles.
In 2018, Threatin gained notoriety by orchestrating an elaborate hoax, booking a European tour by fabricating a fanbase and deceiving promoters. Reflecting on his actions, he stated, “There was no way that I was going to get enough attention being a rock artist in 2018 unless I did something to get people to pay attention… It’s a publicity stunt, but the music is very real.”
Fast forward to January 2025, Threatin unveiled “Die Young,” accompanied by a poignant music video that documents his recent health challenges. The video begins with the beeping of a heart monitor, revealing Threatin in a hospital bed. Throughout the clip, viewers witness distressing scenes of him intubated, coughing up blood, and ultimately undergoing surgery. The video concludes with Threatin examining a significant surgical scar on his chest, a testament to his ordeal.

“Due to severe health issues, Jered Threatin has been hospitalized. After years of misdiagnosis, it was discovered that he had a life-threatening illness. Following a series of heart attacks, he underwent emergency open-heart surgery that left him in a coma.”
“In a race against his declining health, ‘Die Young’ was recorded in the weeks leading up to his hospitalization. The new song has been released with a music video/mini-documentary that chronicles his battle with the fatal condition.”
According to his wife, Kelsey, Threatin was diagnosed with Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH). This rare and progressive disease involves blood clots forming scar-like tissue in the lung’s arteries, leading to increased strain on the heart and potential heart failure. Upon diagnosis, he was immediately rushed into emergency Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy (PTE) surgery.
Despite these challenges, Threatin remained dedicated to his music. Kelsey shared, “As his health rapidly declined, he raced to complete his second album, ‘The Meaning of It All.’ He was barely able to finish before being hospitalized. It was just mastered at Abbey Road Studios and will be released soon.”
For now, “Die Young” serves as the first glimpse into his forthcoming album, offering fans a raw and unfiltered look into his recent experiences.
