Fyre Festival, the notoriously disastrous event that became a symbol of influencer culture gone wrong, is apparently making a comeback. Promoter Billy McFarland—who served prison time for fraud related to the original event—is teasing “Fyre Festival 2,” with dates set for May 30 to June 2, 2025, supposedly in Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
But here’s the twist: local officials in Isla Mujeres claim they haven’t received any permit requests or event applications for such a festival. In other words, as of now, there’s no formal approval or even any indication that this event has a real location or infrastructure to support it.
Despite that, tickets for the event are already on sale on the official Fyre website, ranging from $499 to $7,999. McFarland claims the event will be a “refined version” of the original and promises musical acts, beach parties, and high-end experiences—although no artist lineup has been confirmed so far.
The 2017 edition famously left guests stranded in the Bahamas with no food, accommodations, or performances. It inspired multiple documentaries and memes, and now its revival is sparking a wave of skepticism, confusion, and curiosity across social media.
Is this the redemption story of the decade, or another chaotic con in the making? Time will tell—but if the venue itself doesn’t even know about it, the red flags are flying high once again.
