In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Bridget Regan, violinist and wife of Flogging Molly frontman Dave King, provided an update on King’s health following a serious medical emergency earlier this year. On January 24, King suffered a brain hemorrhage that necessitated two life-saving surgeries. He subsequently spent two weeks in a coma and underwent a third surgery on February 28 to aid in his recovery.
Regan expressed profound gratitude towards the medical professionals at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, particularly neurosurgeon Mr. Kieron Sweeney and his team, for their exceptional care. She also thanked the nurses and staff of St. Brigid’s and Richmond Wards for their unwavering support during this challenging period.
In light of King’s health condition, Flogging Molly announced the cancellation of all their 2025 tour dates to allow him ample time for recovery. The band had initially informed fans of King’s serious health issues in early February, requesting privacy and understanding.
Despite these challenges, the band’s annual Salty Dog Cruise proceeded as planned, featuring performances from 18 bands and attended by Flogging Molly members, though the band did not perform.
Fans and fellow musicians have flooded social media with messages of support and well-wishes for King’s swift recovery. Regan’s recent update brings hope to the Flogging Molly community, as she conveyed confidence that they are now “on the other side of this,” though she acknowledged that the road ahead remains uncertain.
King’s determination to return to music is evident, with Regan noting his eagerness to perform again. The band and fans alike remain hopeful for his full recovery and eventual return to the stage.
