In a recent chat on the Basement Talk podcast, Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu, the original bassist for Korn, shared that he hasn’t been in touch with his bandmates since 2019. This revelation comes after his decision in 2021 to step back from the band to address personal challenges.
During the interview, Fieldy was asked about his current relationship with the band. He responded, “I haven’t talked to those guys since 2019. They’re moving forward, and it’s impressive to see them continue.” When questioned if there’s still mutual respect, he affirmed, “Yeah. It’s cool to see that they can keep on going, you know? I’m just taking it easy.”
Fieldy, along with guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer and former drummer David Silveria, founded Korn in 1993. They had previously played together in the funk metal band L.A.P.D. Fieldy’s bass lines have been a staple in all of Korn’s studio albums, including their 2022 release, Requiem.
In June 2021, Fieldy announced a break from Korn, citing personal issues that had led him back to some “bad habits,” causing tension with those around him. The band expressed their support, emphasizing their desire for his well-being. To fill the void during his absence, Roberto “Ra” Diaz from Suicidal Tendencies stepped in for live performances.
While Fieldy has been focusing on personal matters, Korn remains active. Guitarist Brian “Head” Welch mentioned in December 2024 that the band is diligently working on new material, though no release date has been set. Additionally, Korn is preparing for an international tour starting in Columbus, Ohio, on May 8.
