The modern heavy metal project Elegant Weapons has revealed plans for its highly anticipated second studio album. The band, led by Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner and fronted by powerhouse vocalist Ronnie Romero, will release the new record titled Evolution on April 24, 2026.
Alongside the announcement, the group has also introduced the first single from the album, a high-energy track called Bridges Burn. The song serves as the first glimpse into the band’s next musical chapter and showcases the powerful blend of traditional heavy metal and contemporary production that defines the Elegant Weapons sound.
Elegant Weapons first captured attention in 2023 with their debut album Horns for a Halo. The project was initially conceived as a collaboration between musicians from several iconic bands within the heavy metal world. The lineup combines the guitar work of Richie Faulkner with the commanding voice of Ronnie Romero, known for his performances with Rainbow and the Michael Schenker Group. Completing the group are bassist Dave Rimmer of Uriah Heep and drummer Christopher Williams from Accept.
For their second album, the band aimed to take a more collaborative approach to the songwriting process. Rather than building the music around isolated ideas, the members worked closely together to shape the songs and arrangements. This creative process allowed the band to develop a stronger collective identity while refining the sound that fans embraced on their debut.
The production of Evolution once again involved acclaimed producer and guitarist Andy Sneap, who has worked extensively with Judas Priest and many other major metal acts. Recording sessions were carried out across several locations in Europe and the United States, giving the album an international production scope while maintaining a tight, focused sound.
Musically, the new material pushes the band’s style forward while remaining rooted in classic heavy metal traditions. The songs combine sharp guitar riffs, melodic vocal lines, and a driving rhythmic foundation. The result is an album that blends the spirit of classic metal with the clarity and punch of modern recording techniques.
The first single, Bridges Burn, delivers a strong introduction to this direction. Built around powerful guitar riffs and an anthemic chorus, the track highlights the chemistry between Faulkner’s energetic guitar playing and Romero’s distinctive vocal power. The song captures the band’s intention to create music that feels both timeless and fresh.
One of the most notable tracks on the upcoming album is an instrumental piece titled Rupture. The composition carries a particularly personal meaning for Faulkner, as it reflects on the dramatic health emergency he experienced in 2021 when he suffered a life-threatening cardiac event while performing on stage. The experience had a profound impact on the guitarist, and the track serves as a musical expression of resilience and recovery.
The album also explores a variety of moods across its tracklist, moving from fast, aggressive metal songs to more melodic and atmospheric moments. This variety reflects the band’s growing confidence as a collaborative project and their desire to expand beyond the framework established on their debut release.
Evolution will feature the following tracks:
Evil Eyes
Generation Me
Bridges Burn
Holy Roller
Come Back to Me
The Devil Calls
Thrown to the Wolves
Shooting Shadows
Rupture
Mercy of the Fallen
Keeper of the Keys
With the release of their second album, Elegant Weapons aim to establish themselves as a lasting force in modern heavy metal rather than a one-off collaboration. The experience of the musicians involved, combined with the chemistry they have developed as a band, suggests that Evolution could mark an important step forward for the project.
As anticipation builds ahead of the album’s release, Bridges Burn offers a powerful preview of what fans can expect from Elegant Weapons in this new era.
