The legendary Black Sabbath is gearing up for a monumental reunion on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham. This event, aptly named “Back to the Beginning,” will see all four original members—Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—share the stage for the first time in two decades. The concert promises to be a historic celebration of heavy metal, featuring performances by Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Alice in Chains, Halestorm, Lamb of God, Anthrax, and Mastodon. Proceeds from the show will benefit Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice.
Bassist Geezer Butler recently expressed his enthusiasm on Instagram, stating, “Looking forward to seeing you all on July the 5th at Villa Park. It’ll be the first time that Black Sabbath has played in Aston since we used to live there and where we wrote most of our first album—places like Aston Community Center and Burlington Hall down High Street.” He added, “So it’s a return home for us when it all started, and it will be a very special occasion for us all. See you there.”
This reunion is particularly poignant as it marks Ozzy Osbourne’s final performance with the band, following his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis in 2020. Despite health challenges, Osbourne is determined to give fans an unforgettable show. Tickets for this once-in-a-lifetime event go on sale February 14.
